The theory of ECOFA was established in 2021, started its operation even though it was not officially registered with the government of Afghanistan. During this period, its operation expanded very quickly to the districts and provinces by constructing multiple reservoirs and small dams. When the dams and reservoirs constructed and water reserved in several dry and uncultivable land, people commenced to plant trees and shrubs around the water and bring their flocks here to drink water and to stay for some time under the shadow of the trees. This phenomenon gave us energy and new idea to extend and expedite our activities in terms of water reservation and environment improvement, as well as, it encouraged us to operate in some other sector as well such as; social services and educational facilitation. After seeing a positive result in the last 2021 and 2022, we deemed to register ECOFA with the Ministry of Economic of Afghanistan in order to bring our activities in a form that can be formally responsive to the government of Afghanistan and donor agencies, and to collect aids and funds for the implementation of the said activities.
ECOFA is now registered with the Government of Afghanistan, operating in three sectors, including; Agriculture and Irrigation, Social Services, and Education. ECOFA mostly focuses on the environment to make it clean as it is essential for the peaceful and healthy survival of humans, and to avoid the human activities that affect the environment negatively, such as pollution, global warming, extinction of species, etc.
ECOFA is now a dynamic and professional organization by having staff with different qualifications and expertise.
