The Gender, Water, and Climate Mobility in Afghanistan project addresses the interconnected challenges of water insecurity, climate change, and climate-induced mobility, with a particular focus on gender equality and the experiences of women and other marginalized groups.
The project generates evidence and actionable insights through the systematic collection and analysis of data on water availability and quality, climate-related risks, and migration and mobility patterns. The evidence generated will inform policy dialogue and advocacy efforts aimed at addressing the distinct vulnerabilities faced by women and marginalized communities affected by water scarcity and climate-induced mobility.
1. Data Collection and Assessment
The project conducts structured data collection to assess the availability, accessibility, and quality of water resources in affected areas. It also examines the patterns, drivers, and impacts of climate-induced migration and mobility to better understand the social, economic, environmental, and gender-related challenges facing communities.
2. Community Engagement and Awareness
Community engagement is central to the project. Awareness-raising activities promote responsible water management, conservation, and community-based monitoring of water resources. The project also strengthens community understanding of the links between climate change, water insecurity, and human mobility, with particular attention to the experiences and needs of women and vulnerable groups.
3. Data Analysis, Research, and Reporting
Collected data is analyzed to identify key trends, challenges, evidence gaps, and opportunities for strengthening water governance and climate resilience.
